چکیده

Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is a very exciting new modality in the field of minimal access surgery which works for further reducing the scars of standard laparoscopy and towards scarless surgery [1-3]. Scarless surgery is the Holy Grail of surgery [4]. In the old days adults laparoscopic surgery somehow has more fame around the globe, many cases or journals has been widely published before. Now days pediatric surgeon worldwide has done many surgical procedures for congenital anomalies. Paediatric laparoscopy has been first described in 1923 by Kelling, Minimal Access Surgery was the reduction of scars and thereby pain and suffering of the patients. Over the last two decades, conventional multi-port Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) has established itself as the gold standard for almost all abdominal surgical procedures. The procedure provides safety [1,4-6]. Laparoscopy in neonates has evolved even more slowly when compared to other age groups. Extremely small size of the abdominal cavity causes increased risk of visceral injury and technical difficulty of maneuvering oversized instruments [4,5,7,8] (Figure 1 & 2). Volume 7 Issue 6 2017

Single incision laparoscopic surgery in Canadian children.

As minimally invasive surgery progresses, there have been attempts to modify the technique to minimize both the number and visibility of incisions. These newer techniques are known by multiple acronyms, including single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS). The SILS technique has gained popularity in the United States, particularly owing to its perceived improved cosmesis. The SILS technique ha...

Laparoscopic gastric banding without visible scar: a short series with intraumbilical SILS.

Single-incision laparoscopic surgery has been developed with the aims of further reducing the invasiveness of traditional laparoscopy. The technique of lap-band placement from a single intraumbilical incision is described. Three patients underwent a single-incision laparoscopic surgery gastric banding (SILS-GB) for morbid obesity from May to September 2008. All interventions were uneventful and...

Single-Port Laparoscopic Surgery in Children: Concept and Controversies of the New Technique

Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) is emerging as an alternative technique to conventional laparoscopy for the treatment of common surgical diseases. Despite its wide use, the adoption of SILS in children has been slower since the broad application of minimally invasive techniques in children, in general, has historically lagged behind those in adults. This paper reviews the evolution ...

Single Incision Multiport Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) with Conventional Instruments: A Single Centre Experience

Background: Single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) is an evolving field. Specially designed ports required for SILS are expensive, making this technique unaffordable to many. To overcome this drawback, the use of conventional affordable instruments for SILS was encouraged. We present our case series of SILS with conventional instruments in a tertiary care centre. Methods: This is a single ...
